A dream of Warszawianka - part 3 (2025/26). Aspirations.

Important! This is an English language version of my career, intended for users of the Mój Football Manager portal outside Poland. The only minor exception is the screenshots, as the text remained in Polish. At this point, I would like to thank Anna Mróz, who is a research manager at one of the best (top three!) universities in the world. I am of course referring to the famous Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London. Ania has a PhD, and about 30 scientific publications. To summarise - she is an extremely competent person, whose presence on our portal and the support she provides is a real honour. Thank you! As we expected, Niezgoda didn’t renew his contract with the club. That meant we had to move quickly to bring in an experienced striker. I believe in Marcel Szymański - he joined us a few months ago and has great potential - but let’s not forget he’s only 20. We needed someone ready to make an immediate impact. That’s why I opted for Sebastian Musiolik. For our level - and in Polish football overall - he’s a real difference-maker. Strong in the air, fearless, hard-working, and relentless on the pitch. Górnik Zabrze were relegated last season, so we managed to get him at a bargain price: just €170,000.

From another relegated side, GKS Tychy, I picked up two players I’ve got high hopes for: Piotr Starzyński and Olaf Kobacki. The fees were modest - we simply triggered their release clauses that kicked in after the drop.

However, the most significant signing was the goalkeeper, Dominik Hładun. I’ve had my eye on him - and Cezary Miszta - for a long time. In the end, we landed Hładun for next to nothing. And even though there were some doubts to start with, it’s already clear this was an excellent move for us.

We weren’t exactly lighting up the league. To be honest, we lost the games we were expected to lose.

The upside? We’ve stopped dropping points against the weaker sides - well, mostly. There are still frustrating slip-ups here and there, like the 1:2 loss at home to Warta Poznań. That one stung.

Overall, we played like a typical mid-table team - and that’s exactly where we were sitting after 19 rounds.

In the match against ŁKS in Łódź (06.12.2025, 2:2), Dominik Hładun saved two penalties!

The Polish Cup turned into a real adventure. The hero of the clash with Chrobry Głogów was Jakub Brdak. Although he’s been with Warszawianka for three seasons and had made thirty appearances before this game, he had never found the net. But in Głogów, coming on in the 61st minute for Szymański, he became Man of the Match!

In the second round, fielding our strongest lineup, we comfortably swept past ŁKS. The goals came from Krzyżak and Adkonis (two penalties).

Then, on December 3, 2025, we went through an absolute thriller in Nieciecza. When the stadium clock hit the 73rd minute, we were trailing 1–3. Fortunately, the closing stages belonged to us, with substitutes Surzyn, Kolasa, and Szymański putting in standout performances.

That result sees us through to the quarter-finals, where we’ll face Motor Lublin in early spring.

Yuri Ribeiro dominated the left-back position at Legia, and when he was unavailable, coach Pavel Hapal turned to Bejger. As a result, Patryk Kun didn’t make a single official appearance during the autumn. With his contract set to expire in six months, Legia decided to put him on the transfer list.

After giving it some thought, I concluded that this experienced player could be a real asset for our club. Admittedly, he prefers playing as a wing-back in a 3-5-2 system, but adapting him to a back four as a traditional left-back shouldn’t be too big a challenge.

€120,000 was transferred to Legia, and Kun repaid the faith with five assists in twelve league matches!

We performed better in the league than we did in the autumn. The real surprises were our away wins against both Raków Częstochowa and Legia Warszawa. And let’s not forget - Raków had just claimed the title for the third season in a row in my game world.

But the most sensational result came on May 9, 2026, in Poznań. True, the hosts had been having a dreadful season. In March, their German manager, Stefan Kuntz, was dismissed, with Janusz Niedźwiedź brought in to steady the ship. But under his leadership, Lech was in free fall, losing game after game - and the absolute low point came in their clash with Warszawianka.

The result shocked all of Poland. Everything clicked for us; nothing worked for them.

In the end, after a strong run of form (eight matches unbeaten to close out the season), we secured an excellent sixth-place finish. The league’s top scorer was Filip Piszczek, who netted 26 goals and remarkably led a rather average Radomiak to the Polish runner-up spot.

Worth noting: Piszczek played for Warszawianka in the 2023/24 season but was unhappy with being Jarek Niezgoda’s backup. In Radom, he seems to have found his promised land.

The only blemish on an otherwise positive spring was a serious injury to Mateusz Młyński in April. A dependable squad player, he had been regularly rotated into the starting eleven.

Warszawianka’s top priority in the spring was the Polish Cup. A second-string lineup was enough to get past I Liga side Motor Lublin, and in the semi-final, we produced a brilliant performance to beat Lech Poznań 3-1.

Sebastian Musiolik - once again this season - proved to be our biggest asset.

And so, for the first time in the club’s history, we reached the final of the Polish Cup!

The stakes couldn’t have been higher - victory would secure a place in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers. The bookmakers gave Śląsk a slight edge, likely due to our unfavourable head-to-head record against them in the league this season (0–2, 1–1).

For most of the season, our midfield trio typically consisted of Kocaba in the holding role, with Adkonis and Duda playing as central midfielders. But for the final, I opted to start Furman in place of Kocaba. As the team’s official captain, it was one of his final appearances in a Warszawianka shirt.

The final at the National Stadium (with just 17,832 in attendance) was one of those matches where luck seemed to smile entirely on one side and completely abandon the other. We registered three shots on target against Ukrainian goalkeeper Varakuta, and all three found the back of the net! Śląsk, meanwhile, didn’t manage a single effort on target.
 

It was the first major trophy in Warszawianka’s history, so here’s a detailed look at how the goals were scored:

45th minute - Adkonis won the ball back and played it to Starzyński, who slipped a magnificent through ball between the centre-backs. Musiolik latched on and finished with ice-cold composure.

75th minute - Kobecki received the ball on the left from Klimczak, drove forward a few meters, and delivered a precise pass to the onrushing Popielec. A powerful shot followed, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

79th minute – In a crowded area near the penalty box, Kobecki played a short pass to Szymański, who sealed the match with a beautiful long-range strike.
